3.0417% of €20,000,000 · maximum 5% = €1,000,000
1.9583% (€391,667) is unallocated because those training years are not covered by the periods entered. Where a training club cannot be identified, that share is not simply kept by the new club: it goes to the FIFA Clearing House process for distribution or retention under the applicable rules.

How the 5% is split

Annexe 5 distributes the 5% across twelve calendar years. The calendar year of the 12th through 15th birthdays each carry 5% of the 5%, which is 0.25% of the transfer compensation per year. The calendar year of the 16th through 23rd birthdays each carry 10% of the 5%, which is 0.5% per year. Four years at 0.25% plus eight years at 0.5% is the full 5%.

Assumptions built in
  • Part years are apportioned on whole months. Months are derived from the registration dates and rounded to the nearest month. FIFA's own system apportions to the nearest day, so a part year can differ slightly.
  • An age-year bucket runs 1 January to 31 December of the calendar year in which the player turns that age, not a playing season.
  • The base is the compensation payable to the former club. Training compensation is not part of that base.
  • Whether contingent sums such as sell-on fees, and compensation for breach under Article 17, attract solidarity has been litigated and turns on the facts. Enter only the figure you are confident forms transfer compensation.
  • Solidarity arises on an international transfer before the expiry of the player's contract. Domestic transfers are governed by national association rules.
